A hanging house sign: V-carved serif lettering with a cleared flat bottom, an ogee moulding run round the border with the Moulding toolpath (clearance pass then a ball nose finish), two drilled hanging holes and a tabbed cut-out. 400 x 160 x 19 mm; edit the name on the Text form.
One of the example projects that come with Carvio: the free trial opens it, and a licence lets you save your own files, G-code and jobs. Open it, look at how each toolpath is set up, then change it into your own.
Tools, speeds and feeds are examples. They were chosen so the preview looks right, not for any machine or material: pick your own tools and rates before you cut (the project notes say the same).

Project notes
Family house sign
A sign to hang by the door, 400 x 160 mm in 19 mm hardwood.
- Lettering: the name and the date are text objects; double-click either to change the words, the font or the size. They are V-carved with a 90 degree V-bit; the letters are wide enough that a flat depth of 3 mm is set and a 3.175 mm end mill clears the flat bottoms first.
- Ogee moulding: the Moulding rail is a closed vector 24 mm inside the edge and the Ogee profile is the open vector beside the material. The Moulding toolpath sweeps the profile round the rail (outside a closed rail): a 6 mm end mill clears the shape in Z levels, then a 6 mm ball nose finishes it, rolling round the corners. Edit the profile vector to change the moulding, or pick corners on the form to mitre them.
- Hanging holes are drilled, and the plaque is cut out last with six tabs holding it in the board.
Tools, speeds and feeds are examples
The tools, feed rates, plunge rates, spindle speeds and pass depths in this project are examples only. They were chosen so the toolpaths look right in the preview, not for any particular machine or material. Before you cut, open each toolpath, pick a tool from your own Tool Database and set the rates your machine and material need. Check the material size and thickness in Job Setup too, and the post processor in Save Toolpaths.
