Four 96 mm round coasters from one 220 x 220 x 9 mm board, each with a different V-carved pattern (compass star, nested hexagons, petals, sunburst), a shallow pocketed well for the glass and a tabbed cut-out with arc lead-ins. A quick first project for any machine.
One of the example projects that come with Carvio: the free trial opens it, and a licence lets you save your own files, G-code and jobs. Open it, look at how each toolpath is set up, then change it into your own.
Tools, speeds and feeds are examples. They were chosen so the preview looks right, not for any machine or material: pick your own tools and rates before you cut (the project notes say the same).

Project notes
Coaster set
Four coasters, 96 mm across, cut from a 220 x 220 mm board 9 mm thick.
- Patterns: the compass star, hexagons, petals and sunburst are plain vectors on the Patterns layer, V-carved with a 60 degree V-bit. Swap any of them for your own vectors or a monogram from the Text form; the toolpath recalculates from whatever is selected.
- Wells: a 1.2 mm deep pocket, 76 mm across, keeps a glass from sliding.
- Cut out coasters frees all four at once with three tabs each and an arc lead-in, so the tool enters away from the finished edge. Nest more coasters on a bigger board with Edit > Nest.
Tools, speeds and feeds are examples
The tools, feed rates, plunge rates, spindle speeds and pass depths in this project are examples only. They were chosen so the toolpaths look right in the preview, not for any particular machine or material. Before you cut, open each toolpath, pick a tool from your own Tool Database and set the rates your machine and material need. Check the material size and thickness in Job Setup too, and the post processor in Save Toolpaths.
