A valet tray with a pocketed floor finished with the Texture toolpath (random overlapping ball-nose strokes at 30 degrees), two finger grips cut through the ends and a tabbed cut-out. 240 x 170 x 18 mm.
One of the example projects that come with Carvio: the free trial opens it, and a licence lets you save your own files, G-code and jobs. Open it, look at how each toolpath is set up, then change it into your own.
Tools, speeds and feeds are examples. They were chosen so the preview looks right, not for any machine or material: pick your own tools and rates before you cut (the project notes say the same).

Project notes
Textured tray
A tray for keys and coins, 224 x 154 mm in 18 mm oak.
- Pocket floor: a raster pocket 10 mm deep with a 6 mm end mill, the walls profiled last.
- Texture floor: the Texture toolpath starts at the pocket floor (start depth 10 mm) and scoops random strokes 0.4 to 1.2 mm deep with a 6 mm ball nose, 30 degrees across the tray, inside the floor vector offset by the tool radius so the walls stay clean. Change the seed for a different pattern.
- Finger grips are two small slots pocketed through at the ends, and Cut out tray frees the tray with six tabs.
Tools, speeds and feeds are examples
The tools, feed rates, plunge rates, spindle speeds and pass depths in this project are examples only. They were chosen so the toolpaths look right in the preview, not for any particular machine or material. Before you cut, open each toolpath, pick a tool from your own Tool Database and set the rates your machine and material need. Check the material size and thickness in Job Setup too, and the post processor in Save Toolpaths.
Tools used

- Ball Nose 6mm · ⌀ 6
- End Mill 3.175mm (1/8") · ⌀ 3.175
